"Haint That The Truth"

New Southern Gothic stories, released twice a month. Only on Patreon.

The past isn’t gone. In North Carolina, it lingers at the edges of every town.

You can find it in county libraries, in the quiet stacks of the universities, in records no one has touched for years. Haint That the Truth brings those shadows into the open — tales of memory, loss, and reckoning.

The Archivist carries them forward. A historian without the degree, he spends his time in those libraries, paging through brittle newspapers, half-forgotten dissertations, and local histories that never made it past the county line. That’s where the ghostwriters find him — voices of the dead and of the living who still remember. They gather as he reads, and through him they share their stories.

The question isn’t whether the past lingers. It does.
The question is whether you’ll listen.
